AI Scribes in Our Practice
Some of our doctors use AI scribe technology during consultations to assist with medical note-taking. This page explains what AI scribes are, how they support your care, and how your privacy is protected.
What is an AI Scribe?
An AI scribe is a secure digital tool that listens to the conversation during your consultation and prepares a draft summary for your medical record. Your GP carefully reviews, edits and approves all notes before they are saved. The AI scribe is there to assist with documentation - your doctor remains fully responsible for your medical record, clinical decisions and the care provided.

By reducing the need for typing during appointments, AI scribes allow your GP to focus more fully on you. This supports attentive listening, clearer conversations and more time to discuss your concerns, treatment options and next steps.

Privacy, Security and Professional Standards
Your privacy and confidentiality are very important to us. AI scribes are used in accordance with:
Australian privacy laws
Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) guidance on the use of AI in general practice
Professional obligations set out by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
How your information is handled
Conversations are transcribed in real time - no audio recordings are stored. Transcriptions are held securely on a cloud server located in Australia and are deleted after a short period, usually within 7 days (up to 6 months depending on your doctor's settings).
Your GP reviews, edits and approves all documentation. Your medical information is accessible only to your GP through a unique, password-protected login. Your information is not used to train or develop AI models.
Your Consent and Choice
You will always be informed if an AI scribe is being used during your consultation and asked for your consent. If you prefer not to use this technology, your doctor will complete notes in the traditional way - simply let them know.
