Caring for Your Heart Health in Mona Vale

Looking after your heart health is one of the most important things you can do for your long-term wellbeing. At Mona Vale Doctors, we help patients across Mona Vale and the Northern Beaches better understand their cardiovascular risk, monitor important health markers like blood pressure and cholesterol, and manage heart conditions with practical, evidence-based care.

Whether you’re booking a routine check-up, worried about a family history of heart disease, or simply wanting to stay on top of your health as you get older, our caring GPs and nurses are here to guide you every step of the way.

Many patients begin with a general Heart Health Check to assess their risk of heart attack or stroke and identify any early warning signs. Why should you get a Heart Health Check?

Heart disease is one of the leading causes of illness in Australia, but many heart attacks and strokes can be prevented with early detection and healthy lifestyle changes. A Heart Health Check can help you better understand your cardiovascular risk and what steps you can take to protect your health.

Even if you feel well, factors like blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, smoking, family history, stress, and lifestyle habits can quietly increase your risk over time. Knowing where you stand can help you make informed decisions about your health and future wellbeing.

Who needs a Heart Health Check?

You may be eligible for a Heart Health Check if you do not already have heart disease and are 30 years and older. If you’re unsure whether a Heart Health Check is right for you, our team can help guide you.

What should you expect in your Heart Health Check?

During the appointment, your GP and nurse will work with you to better understand your overall health and create a plan that supports your long-term wellbeing.

  • Discuss

We’ll talk about your medical history, family history, lifestyle, exercise, diet, smoking, alcohol intake, stress levels, and any symptoms or concerns you may have.

  • Check

Your GP or nurse may check your blood pressure, weight, cholesterol, blood sugar levels, and other important heart health markers.

  • Assess

Using this information, we calculate your risk of having a heart attack or stroke in the next five years and identify any areas that may need attention.

  • Plan

Together, we’ll create a personalised plan to support your heart health. This may include lifestyle advice, regular monitoring, medications, or referrals for further care if needed.
